Oatmeal cherry chocolate chip cookies

I usually don’t go in for buying expensive, imported ingredients, but when we saw these beautiful dark red cherries at the store the other day, I knew I had to get these for my grandson, He has heard of cherries but never tasted them. Funnily enough, he is the one who insisted that we make them into cookies. So this is the outcome – these chewy, decadent oatmeal cherry chocolate chip cookies.

Ingredients
Flour of your choice (we used atta) – 1 1/2 cups
Brown sugar – 1 cup + 1 tbsp
Baking soda – 1/2 tsp
Salt – 1/2 tsp
Flax egg – 1
Unsalted butter (melted)/oil of choice – 1/2 cup
Milk – 1/4 cup
Oats – 1 3/4 cup
chocolate chips – 1 cup
Fresh cherries, diced – 1 cup

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C and line two baking trays with parchment. In a large bowl, whisk the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt together. Stir in the flax egg, melted butter/oil, milk and oats. Mix in chocolate chips and cherries, but do not over-mix.

Arrange by tablespoonfuls on the trays about 1 1/.2 inches apart as they will spread as they bake. Bake until edges are just slightly golden, about 10-12 minutes.
Yields approximately 50 cookies
